The days of government seizure of data are over. Once the SAFE Network is live, sites like WikiLeaks that hold important data concerning embezzlement, corruption, violence and tyranny will be able to migrate over into a network where their data is available to everyone, while being censorable by no one.

History

Being a platform for freedom of speech and data, the SAFE Network has held whistleblowing as a core principle since the beginning. First officially mentioned in the MaidSafe explanation video, the opportunity for perpetual freedom of speech is among the most exciting features of the Network. No longer will oppressed peoples have to resort to Twitter or YouTube (which can easily be blocked), when trying to keep tyrannical governments in line. These people can finally start to be free.

Features

The Network itself will take care of most of the work, as it ensures annonymity and security of all data forever, so this app will actually be rather simple. At its core, it will allow users to search publicly shared data by tags or keywords, such as "Obama Patriot Act," or "Edward Snowden Documents," and find exactly what they are looking for, free of charge, and without risk of takedowns. While this sounds simple, the leaps forward in global justice and truth are extraordinary.

Launch Date

It was expected that the network would launch at the end of last year, (and this app soon after,) however an amazing new coding language came out called "Rust" that turned out to be perfect for the SAFE Network to be created with. So, the team decided to restart the whole network from scratch in Rust. This means we will have to wait a few more months to see the network or this app. Follow it on Github!
